You decided to, once more, shrug off your impressions. You were going to attempt to find a seat, but Jeffs' grip on your hand was too much.

"Why don't you sit next to me?" The smile still plastered to his face, he walked dead center of the room. "I think this is a good viewing spot." He took his seat and urged you to sit beside him.

You took the seat, still unsure of your feelings about him. You sat down cautiously and folded your hands, just sitting, feeling your heart rate increase. You were never good on the first day of school, and you were never good with people.
Being with Jeff didn't help.

You stared at the clock. Great, the teacher was late on the first day. You noticed that Jeff continued to stare, even though the entire class was nearly full.

"It's been fifteen minutes..." You heard Jeff's voice say. "Fifteen minutes have passed since the teacher was supposed to be here...how irresponsible." He smiled at you once again.

You nodded. " I know, I've been staring at the clock..." You felt that nerve-wrecking emotions again. Almost like you wanted to run from school. But could Jeff Really even be dangerous? Or were you just reading into the situation too far? You tended to to that a lot.

An overweight, middle-aged woman with greying-brown hair and Rotten-looking librarian glasses entered the room. Out-of-breath, the heavy-set woman unloaded her supplies onto her desk, heavily breathing and adjusting her glasses.

"I am sorry I'm late, class. Stuck in traffic you know." She took a deep breath, scouting the room, catching eye of Jeff...and you. She looked as much as disgusted. It was apparent Jeff had noticed this, as he smiled and even seemed pleased at her... horror.  "Let's start with introducing ourselves..."

So we did. Everyone stared at Jeff when he announced his name, favorite color, and Birthday. Those who hadn't already noticed him, immediately got into the habit of staring, or starting those whisper-whisper conversations that you always hear the popular kids do.

But he just kept smiling. Nothing seemed to throw off his cool. This happened in every single class. It turned out that we had the same schedule. We were stuck together...and it gradually felt...nice.

Maybe he wasn't so bad. He was the only "Friend" You had made. You were always unpopular. You moved schools often. And even switched from homeschooling to public, to private. So to make a friend was novel, and honestly quite nice.

It was last block. You had anatomy and physiology together, too. He sat, again, next to you. It had gotten normal. You two began to talk a lot more. Just about weird, random things. But it was only you. He ignored the others. Why? Was something weird or different enough about you to attract his attention? Why was he so strange, anyway?

That could wait. The bell rang, and the first day was finally over.

"Want to walk together, Jeff?" It came out of your mouth before you even had time to think. Were you already attracted? He was your only friend after all. You just wanted someone to walk with, that's it.

"Oh..." He looked at you, almost shocked, and smiled. "I'd quite like that." He reached his pale, clammy hand for your own and gripped it firmly. "Bus 109 was it?"

"That's the one." You noticed that you were even smiling. Was it contagious now?

The bus ride wasn't at all awkward like that morning. He even walked you home, kissing your hand upon leaving. How could such a gentleman, a shy, smart, kind and considerate gentleman, be awful or bad?

You were obviously wrong to ever think he was any of that. He was your friend, your only friend, and that's all that mattered.
Well, it's not that good, but I DID have a cat ON MY FUCKIN' KEYBOARD :iconkeyboardcatplz:
